A new Karate program will start at the Kokokahi YWCA on November 1st. The program will be open to all (men and women ages 12 and up). The style is Okinawan Shorin-ji ryu Karate (Kyan style).
Students can also learn Okinawan weapons like the Bo (staff), Tunfa and Sai. The instructor Angel Lemus has over 30 years teaching experience and is the vice president of the Zentokukai Karate Association. The program will be on going and will focus on the cultural and self defense aspects of Okinawan Karate. This is not a sports karate program. Students can attain rank up to black belt through the Zentokukai Karate Association.
