| A Beautiful Dojo filled with the Spirit of Budo The Zentokukai Honbu dojo located in sunny Miami Florida is a wonderful place filled with the energy, mystery and spirit of Karate-do. The moment you set foot in it, the heat, humidity and the atmosphere take you to Okinawa. The smell of sweat, gis hanging out to dry in the open air, the makiwara, the wood, all bring about that unmistakable feeling that you are in a traditional Karate dojo. The Honbu dojo is built on Sohan Tim Rodgers' home property. It was built in 1988 by the sweat and labor of himself and his students. Like many dojo in Okinawa it is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. There is no lock on the door and anyone can train at any time. It is truly a testament to Sohan's dedication and love for Karate-do. He has spent countless hours working on this dojo for the past 16 years in a neverendling cycle of remodeling and improvement. Welcome home! |

| Sohan Tim Rodgers in a classic pose from the Kyan/Tomari Passai kata. Notice the centerline angle to the front, this is the typical Koryu (old style) body positioning which removes the center mass away from an opponent. Very different from modern (sport) karate. | ||||||||
